Re: Taking the plunge
Thankfully we arent in the impact zone, we just had extremely dangerous weather conditions yesterday that called for evacuation plans had a fire struck nearby. There were a few fires however they were were quickly controlled so didnt pose a threat to us. The weather warnings have been dropped now and its much cooler. Chilly even @Maggie

Re: Taking the plunge
wow @Maggie , that's a lot. I am so happy you like the flat and can already imagine your life there, with the birds feasting on the bottlebrush and a nice spot for a cuppa. Sending you good vibes for the packing and move ahead.

Re: Taking the plunge
Hi @outlander
I am glad you are not in the impact zone and that the fires near you were quickly under control - I know the cool change hit late yesterday and I hope you got some rain - maybe that's too much to ask right now
I just re-read your post - chilly even - okay - we are chilly in Melbourne and really - it's most unfair that Melbourne has hogged the rain for most of the continent lately - not fair at all - it should be spread around more evenly
All the best Outlander - you really are doing your share up there

Re: Taking the plunge
Hi @Maggie @CheerBear @outlander @Molliex @Owlunar sounds like today is off to a good start for all here this morning. Late reply from me coz I've been screening responses to a job I advertised to add support workers to my team. 11 people applied within 2 hours! It's the first time I've done something like this. My coordinator of supports will help me sort it all out tomorrow thank goodness.
Hope today is one of the better ones for you all.

Re: Taking the plunge
Thanks @outlander .
We got the cool change yesterday evening. Sky is much clearer today, but, I'm not sure how long it will last. Fingers crossed I can get to the city and back on the train tomorrow. I'm glad you got through yesterday alright and hope things are okay the next few days as well.
@Maggie, really glad to hear you have found a new residence. I hope you can settle in soon and that is safe and peaceful environment for you.
Good morning to all passing through..
thoughts are with you @Former-Member , really hope you and loved ones are safe and well.

Re: Taking the plunge
Hi @eth
Chilly day here in Melbourne and I have decided to shower and get dressed in warm clothes an get myself up to the Telstra shop and get them to put a new SIM card into my new phone - I have notice new apps trying to get into my old phone - not really useful and my oldie has lost it's oomph - but if I put warm clothes on I might just get myself up there
Thanks for posting on the Tuesday Topic last night - I hope to get around the forum a lot more in the future - it is helpful for me and I get support now that I need it a bit more than I have but my old habits meant I was missing out on a lot of people's important info -
So I hadn't noticed that your daughter had been so premature - my daughter was 4 weeks early which meant she had a pretty good weight - 6 lb actually - but her liver was immature - she was 4 weeks in hospital and I was glad to get her home but she was not ready to take the bottle and refused the breast so it was tough for both of us through those early years really - but the first months
But your daughter was so so so early - and it was a doctor's accident I read this morning - and you had a court case to battle through - that's a rough start - and her Dad left - what a bummer - I was sorry to read that - it has to have been one tough thing after another after another - I am glad she survived but with delayed learning - but I know you love her - and how I love my daughter
I triggered myself posting about my son - I feel okay this morning but last night - I forgot dinner - that's okay - I will make up for it today - but I felt really shattered for a while and it's a long time ago now - tough memories can come around to bite us can't they
All the best screening the applicants for your support workers - 11 applicants in 2 hours - possibly more by now - and it's the first time you have done anything like this - I never actually - and I am glad you will have your co-ordinator helping you out with this
I hope your day is one of the better ones too - it's really great getting around the forum more and sharing

Re: Taking the plunge
Hi @Maggie
That sounds like a really nice flat - great really - I hope it all works out for you and wish you the best - ah - I am not sure what a heat-pump is but I hope it's like A/C
$250.00 seems a lot to pay your present landlord - I take it you have to break your contract - but it's a bite on your wallet you could do without - errch - darn
How long before you move
Hi @CheerBear
I didn't know you were on chemo - that's tough yards - but it's near the end I hope - I wish you the best with that too - aw - that's a hardie - I am not sure how to comment - wouldn't like it

Re: Taking the plunge
Thinking of all having a hard time with fires at the moment.
@eth that sounds like a great outcome - 11 applying! Really getting to exercise some choice and control there hopefully!
Popping in and out between hospital appointments today. Always a long day here :face_with_rolling_eyes:
❤ to all

Re: Taking the plunge
Thanks @CheerBear
It's good to get positive feedback on posts - I have been enjoying getting around the forum more - I am okay but feeling more stress than usual - about seeing a new pain specialist - tense time
I am glad you are not having chemo - that's a phew moment - but taking a parent to and from has it's unique stresses also - I can't imagine that - my sister took over my parents needs and cares in the last years and I was not involved and really didn't know much - so yes - it would be tough to have that responsibility. And tiring
Bushfires - yes - I had just turned the TV on and the fires are less but still happening in NSW and heating up in QLD and my grand-daughter lives on the Sunshine Coast. Things were okay where she was yesterday but I must text back and see how things are for her
She's coming down to Melbourne for Christmas - this is great because we all miss her - I went up in July and her parents in August and some friends of hers went recently but it's a huge step to move interstate away from family and friends - but there have been fires this years already - near her - so it's an issue
All the best with your busy day CheerBear
