What's happening in July 2022!

Hello to our wonderful forums community!

The year is flying, it's hard to believe that we're now at the half way point. We're really excited to share upcoming live events and discussions for July

We will update this calendar with some more events once they are confirmed, but we're really looking forward to some great discussions!

We are kicking off this month with a month-long event celebrating the power of kindness in Kind July: you can join in with that here .

We will also be celebrating NAIDOC week, and discussing Birth Trauma awareness week and National Pain Week.

Live Peer Chats

If you're interested in joining our live Peer Group Chats, you can learn more about them and join in here

For the month of July, we'll be having the following chats:

Fun, Comfort and Joy: Thursday 7th July, 7pm-8.30pm AEDT

When is the last time you did something just out of fun or curiosity? In adulthood, it can be easy to leave behind the things we might’ve done as kids that made as happy, as we or society might view them as “childish” - despite the fact that they could bring us happiness and joy now- for example, using soft plush toys for comfort, or playing games. Come join this chat to reflect on how we might be able to incorporate things that bring us comfort or joy back into our lives.

Dealing with failure: Thursday 14th July, 7pm- 8.30pm AEDT

Dealing with failure can be a big part of everyday life and recovery. However, our perception of failure can sometimes impact how we deal with it. Let’s come together and talk about failure, how we can respond to it, and how this can either support or hinder us from moving forward.

Holding Hope: Thursday 21st July, 7pm-8.30pm AEDT

Hope can be a big part of recovery. However, there may be moments where hope seems “silly” or not relevant, despite being important. Let’s come together to talk about what hope means to us and why we do it!

Engaging in Meaningful Things in Life: Thursday 28th July, 7pm - 8.30pm AEDT

Whether with our own lived experience or acting in a caring role, it is valuable for all of us to engage in things in our life that are meaningful. For example: hobbies and interests, fulfilling relationships, culture and community– the specifics will be unique to each person. In this group we will talk about what brings us meaning, the impacts of having or not having this in our life, and support each other towards engaging in more meaningful things in our lives.

We'd also love to hear from you! If there's any discussions you'd love to see on the forums, you can comment here or email us at team@saneforums.org

@GrevilleaBlooms That will be good timing. I'm seeing a new psychiatrist on the 7th of July and will probably need something fun to focus on thay night. Will join in for sure ☺
