ABS Media Release: Time spent caring for others is on the rise

The Australia Bureau of Statistics has found caring time has increased for carers, with nearly half reporting that they feel, resentful and stressed (click on link below for more information)

With an increasing amount of services tightening their belts, and changes to social benefits many carers face the heavy cost of providing extra care, and it seems to be impacting on their own mental health.

What are people's thoughts on this? What can be done about this?

Not surprising many carers have their own mental health concerns,

I would guess anxiety/depression would be at the top of that list. I think this is reflective of the ongoing, challenging, and difficult role carers are placed in, and a lot I'm sure that wouldn't have chosen this for themselves if given the choice.
