I really enjoyed reading about you and @Wanderer 's farm/bush memories. Fills out mental images and makes sense of what I have seen over the years. Reality on the forums is a heap better than reality tv!
I strongly attach to the ocean and to the bush, maybe partly cos I did not attach to people in the cities. Saw enough of those pubs to know why it was not a nice place for a poor and respectable woman. My mother would not allow my father to go into them... that I saw anyway.
My father never owned land or even a car. He did buy me a brand new blue scooter when I was 8. He was an inner city man with sympatico with indigenous people. I rode that scooter in central Sydney. After he died it was through Legacy that I went to the dairy farm. It was on soldier settlements small farms less than 300 acres less than 300 cows ...
