Re: Mental Health Carer Support

@PsychosisCarer

You did what you thought was the right thing to do at the time. Mostly people have better outcomes when it is not the public system, but that is the way a lot of the advice is set up. It can be hard to watch some of the dehumanising aspects of the system.

I have been in the position where I have had to call “services “ in for my brother in the 1990s, and my son, and myself. I first visited a psych ward in 1970 to see my father. Both parents had so called schizophrenia or psychosis. I have had to study it all my life. No real choice. These days I see “ psychosis as a complex mix of developmental, cultural and trauma factors or experiences with injustice and spirituality often involved.

I have to do dinner, and organise some zoom sessions but will log in later tonight.

Take care

Thank you @AuntGlow

Appreciate the time you have given to respond to me. By calling the CAT team, the result is the public system. What are your concerns about the public system?

Im also studying the crap out of psychosis this last 6 days. There are no trauma related issues, which I continue to be asked. I mean, there could be, but my partner and I have shared some pretty deep stuff, I am just racing my own brain here wondering what’s happened, what went wrong?

im also interested to know what you mean by spirituality? We are not spiritual people BUT this is her 2nd episode of her life. Last year we were in a 3rd world country when her first episode occurred. Must say, the public system was crap during that time. A few meds and finish them up if you like, basically.

fast forward to now… we’ve just returned from a different 3rd world country and this psychosis hit just after returning home from that holiday. Is this something culture related perhaps? As I said, just trying to work it all out and try pin point what her triggers are
