Re: C ptsd recovery & adapting to life

Hi @sallyfrog1

Welcome to the forums. Sounds like you've had it challenging. I'm wondering if you have any supports in place right now?

The forums are a great place to connect as we are all anonymous and can be as open as we like without fear or judgement. There are many members who have C PTSD. I hope some of them reach out and offer some ideas about adapting to life.

Warmest wishes

Hanami

Re: C ptsd recovery & adapting to life

Thanks both for the welcome

I'm in my early 30s
Am in a pretty good place now in terms of clarity (after a long time of being dissociated)
Main thing right now is having people there for me, support network & working

Talking to ppl who are high achievers and they especially don't get it

Ppl often want you to share your life experiences and usefulness up to your age

But for me it's like... I've physically grown but only now have really allowed myself to develop emotionally

Re: C ptsd recovery & adapting to life

Hi @sallyfrog1 cPTSD can certainly affect our development, espeially when parts of our childhood are taken by trauma. I can see that you have a great insight into yourself though and what you need to work on. So many people with a trauma background have faced similar challenges. We have to 'grow up' quickly and by-pass so many of the 'normal' experiences and stages of development. As a result, we have to re-learn so much - and emotional development is often one of those things we need to work on.

Thank you for reaching out and sharing with us ...and welcome to the forums.
