Thanks @Determined Yes I've worked in other abusive work environments for many years.

I had to leave at least 2 jobs on account of it.

This incident wasn't as severe as when I had to file an assault report in 2007, but not much better...

Management has a duty of care to provide a safe work environment but in my case sadly they did not care. I saw numerous assault's in my workplace (none on me thankfully) and management thought it was funny. 

Trust your employer is more understanding.
