Looking after ourselves

Re: Got a coping strategy that you find good? Share it here :)

My main coping strategy is doing creative things. There are so many possibilities here:

  • drawing if you can do that (not me), colouring in if you can't or don't want to
  • any kind of craft can be great (I sometimes get into knitting)
  • making music or listening to it (possibly learning an instrument, I took up ukelele last year)
  • watching interesting short videos on the net
  • writing journals or poetry (or any other kind of writing I feel like at the time)

Aside from that I might try:

  • going for a walk (preferably in a place with elements of nature)
  • visiting a friend
  • participating on the forum
  • breath meditation

I don't always remember to do these things when I'm most in need and sometimes I just can't reach out to the things that help me. But I am a happier human overall when I am engaged in doing some of these things. Smiley Happy
