Dont let anyone try to convince you that you're not supposed to grieve the loss of a beloved pet.  Its normal and its natural.

Take as much time out as you need.  And remember all the many good times and memories you've shared with your dog.  I'm sure there will be many.  The loss will leave a hole in your heart and your life for a long time.  I feel for you.
